Greg Alan Cone, 65, a resident of Route 7A in Shaftsbury, VT died Wednesday January 5, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Northfield Falls, VT July 28, 1956. He was the son of the late Harold "Roy" Cone and Dorothy (Boynton) Cone. Greg received his education in Essex and was a graduate of Essex High School.
He married the former Frances Cooke on July 15, 1995 in Sutton, VT.
Greg was self employed as a carpenter for over 40 years. He most recently helped build his brother in laws log home and also built his own home on Route 7A in Shaftsbury.
His first love was biking. He routinely biked 50 miles a day and had also biked the length of the State of Vermont in a day. He also enjoyed hiking, skiing, both downhill and cross country and had worked as a ski patrol at Burke Mountain. He also enjoyed water skiing. Greg was very independent and enjoyed making people laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Cone of Shaftsbury, VT. A brother Gary Cone and his wife Martha of Summerfield, Florida and a niece, Jaime Hughes of Dryden, NY. His mother-in-law, Pauline Cooke and his brother- in- law, Mike Cooke both of Shaftsbury. Two nephews, Joshua Cooke of Belmont, MA and Jesse Cooke of Bennington Along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Thursday January 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
There will be no calling hours.
The burial will take place in the family lot at Saint John's Cemetery in North Bennington at the convenience of the family.
