Gordon F. Muckle Sr.

March 19, 1927 — July 3, 2016

Gordon Francis Muckle, Sr. age 89, a former longtime resident of Bennington died on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home in Sunderland, VT.

He was born in North Bennington, VT on March 19, 1927, and was the son of the late Frederick and Henrietta Muckle. He received his education in North Bennington and Bennington. Gordon served in the Navy, stateside and overseas as an office worker. Following his military service, he returned to Bennington and went to work at the BenMont Paper Plant and later went to work at H. Greenberg and Son as a buyer.

He married the former Lillian Sweet on January 6, 1947. She predeceased him on November 21, 1995.

Gordon always acted young for his age, never wanting to admit he was growing older.

He is survived by his six children: Gordon (Renelle) Muckle, Jr. of Bennington, VT, David (Jeannie) Muckle of San Angelo, TX, Pat (Harold) Galusha of Bennington, VT, Mike (Pamela) Muckle of Bennington, VT, Debbie Salsburg of Melbourne, FL and Brenda Lugatto (David Matteson) of Sunderland, VT. Gordon leaves several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, as well as as nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by one grandson, Gordon Muckle, III and brothers and sisters; Howard, Duane, Audna and Madeline.

Service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. No calling hours are scheduled.
