Gloria J. King, 71, passed into eternal life on April 24th, 2024 after a brief illness. Gloria was born on February 23rd, 1953, in Bennington, Vermont to Charles and Eleanor Rice. Gloria graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School and went on to obtain a Licensed Nursing Assistant certificate. Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Frank King on December 1st, 1973. Frank and Gloria recently celebrated their 50th golden wedding anniversary. She enjoyed sharing their countryside home in Bennington with him for over 40 years, where she selflessly cared for, loved, and watched her family grow. Gloria was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. As an LNA at the Vermont Veterans Home she enjoyed caring for the residents and their families. She cared deeply about all the lives she touched and felt honored to be able to help them. After retirement, Gloria and Frank were excited at the opportunity to travel around the country in their RV. Their favorite destination was Myrtle Beach, SC where Gloria and Frank took long walks to enjoy the beach views and listen to ocean waves. Gloria’s other passions included baking cookies and her famous apple pies for family and friends. She also took pleasure in being able to watch her birds and other animal visitors on King’s Way. Gloria will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted husband Frank, her son Frank King III and his wife Torrey, her daughter Lisa Halkias and her husband Bill, and granddaughter Kayla King, grandson Carter King, and granddaughter Maria Halkias. She also leaves behind her siblings Steven Rice, James Rice, Anne Wood, along with other precious family members and friends. There will be a celebration of Gloria’s life on May 18th, 2024, at her favorite place, 175 King’s Way Bennington, Vermont beginning at 1:00pm.
