Gloria Buehler Deming, 93 of Chester, VT, passed away on September 27, 2023, at West River Valley Assisted Living (Valley Cares) in Townshend, VT. Gloria was born in Queens Village, NY on April 12, 1930, the daughter of Frederick and Maud (Weaver) Buehler. Gloria was a 1952 graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, MA. Gloria married Dale Cooley Deming on June 28, 1952 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York. They moved to Simsbury, CT where they lived until retirement and where, together, they raised their two daughters, Debra and Virginia. During these years, Gloria volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and an altar guild member at her church. She also served a term as president of the area Wheaton Club for alumni of the college. Gloria was a homemaker in the fullest sense of the word. She loved renovation and decorating, cooking, and growing vegetables. She was a talented oil painter and artist, and she played the piano regularly. She was a very talented seamstress and sewed most of her clothing. She passed this love on to all her girls. She loved skiing and made her last run at age 75. Skiing brought Gloria and Dale to Vermont for their retirement, and they lived in the house they had renovated in Chester for the rest of their lives. Gloria renovated yet another home when she and Dale purchased a cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee. For 25 years, they enjoyed family summers with boating and swimming and cooking. Gloria loved to entertain visiting friends. Dale passed away on October 4, 2021. Gloria is survived by her two daughters; Debra Deming (Stephen) Walsh of Pownal, VT and Virginia (Edward) Griffin of Chester, VT, grandchildren; Elizabeth (Joshua) Walsh of East Montpelier, VT, Daniel Griffin of Chester, VT, and Laura (David) Lang; and her great grandson, Theodore Lang of Uxbridge, MA, In addition to her husband of 69 years, Gloria was predeceased by her brothers, Frederick and Howard Buehler.
