Gerald Theodore Vernon Moon

Gerald “Jerry” Moon 86, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2023 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a long illness. Born on January 3rd, 1937 in Bennington, Vermont. He was the son of the late Jessie M. And Catherine (Davis) Moon. Jerry was raised and received his early education in Bennington. He later attended Mount Anthony Union High School. As a young man, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy and served twice during the Korean War Era. On April 28th, 2001, Jerry married the former Patricia Dawley at the VFW Post 1332 in Bennington. Jerry was an active member of Cornerstone East Church in Cambridge, New York. Jerry also was a lover of all things music. He enjoyed guitar, singing, and performing anywhere he could; Especially at church. He was also a bargain hunter who loved to find things he could fix up at yard sales. He was a tinkerer and loved repairing old or broken things. Survivors include his wife of over 20 years; Patricia Moon. His daughter; Stacy Meehan (Shawn Money). His sons; Mark Harrington (Tina) and Matthew Harrington (Melissa) His sisters; Jean Jones and Sherry Robinson (Joe). A sister-in-law; Karen Wellspeak. His eight grandchildren; Jake, Richelle, Nicholas, Austin, Justin, Zachary, and Emma. As well as two great grandchildren; Rose and Gray. Jerry is predeceased by a daughter; Deborah Bruneau. As well as his siblings, Jessie Moon, Joan Peacock, Jimmy Moon, and David Wellspeak. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 1pm till 2pm on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington. Immediately following the visitation at 2pm, there will be a memorial service offered by Pastor Jim Bartholomew at Mahar Funeral Home.
