Gerald N. Lacroix (Lacroix) Sr.

February 18, 1933 — November 25, 2017

Gerald N. LaCroix, Sr. of Pownal passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017.

He was born in Bennington, February 18, 1933 to Joseph and Mildred (Wood) LaCroix. Mr. LaCroix received his education in Bennington, graduating from Bennington High School in 1951.

He enlisted in the Navy and served during Korea. On his return home, he worked in television sales and repair and later as a concrete and building contractor. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida and time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Bennington Elks Club and the VFW and had been a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Pownal.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela (King) LaCroix, his children: Gerald LaCroix, Jr. (Lisa) of Bennington, Michael LaCroix of Newport News, VA, Kathy Penland (Terry) of Lake Helen , FL and Jan Shamberger of Colchester, VT, his step-children; Aaron Blakeman (Kim) of Rensselaer, NY and Christy Blakeman (Scott Mowrey) of Manchester Center, VT. Gerald also leaves his grandchildren: Jay LaCroix (Whitney) of Bennington, Whitney LaCroix of Shaftsbury, VT, Samantha Fleming (Matthew) of West Stephentown, NY, Kyle Penland of Birmingham, AL, Tyler Penland of Lake Helen, FL, Kara Blakeman of Rensselaer, NY, Zachary and Mackenzie LaCroix of Newport News, VA and Kieran and Kaeleigh Shamberger of Colchester, VT. Mr. LaCroix leaves his great grandchildren: Meya Beaudoin of Shaftsbury, VT and Jaxson Fleming of West Stephentown, NY. He leaves his sisters: Ann Moore of Venice, FL, Doris Bevis of San Jose, CA and Alice Woodard (James) of Arlington, VT. Gerald is survived by one brother, Gordon LaCroix (Gertrude) of Queensbury, NY, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by three sisters: Theda Moon, Jane Lueck, and Ruth Lacy along with one brother; Joseph LaCroix, and two grandchildren: Brett LaCroix and Nathan Blakeman

A memorial service will be held on Thursday afternoon, November 30 at 4:00PM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00PM until the time of the service.

Interment will take place privately by his family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad or the Alzheimer's Association.
