Geoffrey D. Ives

SHAFTSBURY-

Geoffrey D. Ives, 81, a resident of Shaftsbury, Vermont passed away unexpectedly on April 18th, 2022 surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 19th, 1941 in Syracuse, New York to the late Charlotte Slocomb and Hubert F. Ives. Geoffrey received his high school diploma from Central Tech in Syracuse before continuing his education at Morrisville Tech and SUNY Oswego. He was a very knowledgeable computer repairman, working for many different companies over the years. Geoffrey also taught at ITT Technical Institute.

In 1962, he married Virginia Duncan in Syracuse, New York at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Together they had two daughters, Charlene and Katie. Geoffrey and Virginia raised their daughters in Fulton, New York where they lived for many years. In more recent years, Geoffrey and Virginia moved to Vermont in order to be closer with family.
Geoffrey was very gifted with his hands, and enjoyed woodcarving. He was also very proud to be an Eagle Scout and shared his love for the Boy Scouts with his grandsons, Sam and James. Geoffrey enjoyed going on walks with his wife and dog, which often also included their cat.

Geoffrey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Ives. His two daughters and their spouses; Charlene Ives and Bill Tock, of Shaftsbury, VT and Katie Ives and Nicki Skipper, of Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by his two grandsons; Sam and James Tock, of Shaftsbury, VT. Geoffrey was predeceased by two brothers, Brian and Rodney Ives.

Services for Geoffrey will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
