Genevieve B. Kelly, 94, a former resident of Harvest Hills Drive, and Homestead Mews in North Bennington, VT, passed away on November 6, 2024, at the Portland Care and Rehabilitation Center in Portland, CT. Genevieve was born in Middletown, CT on December 20, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Ryczek) Bartlett of Durham, CT. Genevieve received her education in Portland, CT where she graduated from high school. Following her marriage to William E. Kelley on July 12, 1958, they relocated to Vermont to raise their family. In earlier years, Genevieve was employed at Grants in Bennington, VT where she was a sales clerk and buyer for women’s jewelry. She had worked at the switchboard at Putnam Memorial Hospital, and for several years worked as a receptionist at Mount Anthony Union High School. Genevieve was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington and in her last year, frequented masses held at the rehab center by St. Mary’s Church in Portland, CT. Although she enjoyed knitting and created many beautiful items for family and friends along with selling her wares at craft fairs, her main priority was her family. She was very proud of all of their accomplishments. She could also be found reading daily on her Kindle and kept up with world events and would voice her opinions readily. Genevieve is survived by two sons; Robert (Patricia) Augeri of Portland, CT and William E. (Patricia) Kelley, Jr. of Dallas, TX, two daughters; Patricia (John) Marechal of Venice, FL, and Linda (Thomas) Kelley-Weidl of Sanford, FL.; a son-in-law, Stanley Duszak of Cromwell, CT, fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband William E. Kelley, a daughter, Gloria Duszak, and sisters, Frances Nichols and Mary Louise Long. A Funeral Service for Genevieve will be held on Monday November 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington, VT. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in North Bennington, VT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday November 11, 2024, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM.
