Franklyn B. Stratton, Jr., 66 of Shaftsbury, VT passed away at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center on March 1, 2025. Frank was born in Bennington on June 7, 1958, the son of Franklyn B. Sr., and Gracie (Holman) Stratton. Frank married Jennifer Moore on July 30, 2005. They had met at a pig roast at Frank’s house.
Following high school, Frank joined the United States Army where he was very proud to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a paratrooper. He was stationed at Fort Wainwright, AK. He married his first wife, Vanessa Winters, in Alaska. After his military service, Frank ran his own business, Frank Stratton Masonry, for many years.
Frank was always very social and considered himself “one of the nicest guys he ever met.’ He loved hunting with his kids and was also an avid fisherman. He also loved playing cards, especially cribbage and pitch. He was a member of the Bennington Eagles #1861, Bennington VFW Post 1332 and the Bennington American Legion Post 13.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jennifer Moore-Stratton, of Shaftsbury, his children; Nikki (Mary) Stratton of Charlestown, IN, Amanda Stratton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Hunter Stratton of Shaftsbury, VT, Peyton Stratton of Hoosick Falls, NY and Brogan Stratton of Shaftsbury, VT, his grandchildren; Michelle Roberts of Charlestown, IN, Nathan and Alexander Scheidell both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and a sister, Patricia DeCoff of Shaftsbury, VT. Frank was predeceased by a daughter, Erin Michelle, two sisters, Anna Stratton and Kellie Stratton and a nephew, Pete Harrington.
Friends may call at the EP Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Thursday March 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held in the spring.
