Frank W. Snow

Frank W. Snow Jr, 89, a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont, Passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2024 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a brief illness. Born in Bennington on January 7, 1935 he was the son of the late Frank W. Snow Sr. and Hazel (Barnard) Snow. He received his education in the Bennington schools and was a 1954 graduate of Bennington High School. Frank served in the U. S. Army from 1955 thru 1962 during the Vietnam war era. Frank Married the former Joan Sawtell in Cambridge, New York on September 11, 1964. Joan passed away in 2013. Frank was employed by the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife on South Stream Road in Bennington for forty five years as the Fish Culture Supervisor. Frank also served for seven years as a Vermont Deputy Sherriff. He was a long time member of Bennington Moose Lodge #1223, Bennington Eagles #1861, American Legion Post #13 and VFW Post #1332 auxiliary. As well as a member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department, Boy Scout troop leader, served on the fire department’s prudential committee and the Bennington Zoning Committee. Frank was also an officer of the Bennington Elks Lodge #567. Survivors include his two children; Richard Setzer Sr. (Priscilla) and Debbie McLean. His three grandchildren; Sarah Mattison, Crystal Setzer, and Richard Setzer Jr. Three great grandsons; Kamden, Peyton, and Grayson. A sister; Doris West. As well as several; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Joan and a son, Frank W. Snow III. Calling hours will be held from 11am until 1pm at Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington, on July 8th, 2024. Following the conclusion of calling hours, there will be a funeral service at the funeral home. The graveside services will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington following the funeral service.
