Frank F. Ruggles

BENNINGTON- Frank F. Ruggles Jr, 32, a resident of Bennington, Vermont, passed away on January 3rd, 2024, following a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis, as well as Crohn’s Disease for most of his adult life. He was born on April 2nd, 1991, to Frank Ruggles Sr. and Tracy Reynolds. Frank grew up in Shaftsbury, VT and attended local schools. In 6th grade, he was awarded the Presidential Fitness Award, which was a great accomplishment as he had been told he would never be able to play sports. He played football and briefly wrestled. His sister Harley gave him, his greatest gift, his “niester” (niece/sister) Hazel Mae. He proudly took her to get her first haircut and spent as much time with her as possible. He cherished time spent with his brother Joel and stepfather Upper hunting and fishing. Joel and Frank also spent a lot of time riding four-wheelers and motorcycles. One of his favorite pastimes was gambling, specifically scratch-off tickets. Frank was someone who always did things his way and he lived his life to the fullest. He was the best-looking kid his mother ever had. There was never a dull moment while Frank was around. Once, Frank was jumping another car to help a friend who was having trouble starting their vehicle his clutch gave out and he ran his own foot over. He wasn’t particularly nice to his older sister; during one of their bike lessons, she went over the handlebars, and Frank laughed until he cried! She suffered a broken arm and had to visit the emergency room. Frank is survived by his parents, Tracy Reynolds (Leverette Harrington), of Bennington, VT and Frank Ruggles Sr. (Leann), of Laurens, SC, and his “third” parent, Wendy “Stancie” Joly, of Shaftsbury, VT. He is survived by his siblings: Roxanne Prew (Nelson), Joel, Harley, Jordan (Jessica), and Loni of Bennington, VT. Nicole and Willard (Sadie) of North Bennington, VT. Remington, Hoyt, and Winchester Ruggles, of Lauren, SC. Kathleen, Michael, and Trish (Chad), of Shaftsbury, VT. Franklin Ruggles, of California. Frank is also survived by his grandparents, John and Nancy Coon, and Fred McDonald, of Bennington, VT, and Bill Reynolds Sr., of Swanton, VT. He is also survived by his stepfather, John “Jack” Sherman, of Bennington, VT. Frank is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had a special relationship with his Aunt Beck, Aunt Tilly, Aunt Brenda of Bennington, VT, and Uncle Billy, of Greenwich, NY. His “Niester”, Hazel Mae, also survives him. Frank was predeceased by his son, Tyler, a stepfather, John “Upper” Coon; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Brown; his paternal grandfather, Franklin James Ruggles; his paternal grandmother, Nancy Lou Ruggles; and a cousin, Billie-Jean Reynolds. A Celebration of Frank's life will be held at 35 First St Hoosick Falls, NY on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1:00-6:00 PM.
