BENNINGTON
Frank Edward Hurley Jr., 93, a resident of Airport Road, Bennington, died Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a long illness. During Frank's lengthy illness he was lovingly cared for by his son Jim and the entire family would like to acknowledge Jim for his outstanding support and strength that was provided to their Dad during the past many months.
Born in Bennington on February 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank E. Hurley Sr and Cora J. (DeBell) Hurley. Frank received his education in the Bennington schools and was later employed at the former BenMont Paper Company for 46 years.
Frank married the former Dorothy Cherbonneau on June 28, 1947 at the Cherbonneau family home in North Bennington. Dorothy died October 28, 2013.
Frank maintained the family farm during his entire life. He also enjoyed camping with his family and will be remembered for his smile which would always light up a room.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Holts of Sumpter, SC and Barbara Fritz (Eric) of Pennsylvania; three sons, John Hurley (Carole), Steven Hurley (Michele) and James Hurley, all of Bennington; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother and four sisters, Kate Krawczyk, Viola Burgess, Jerod Sanders Ruby Kinney and Nancy Flanders. Frank was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Harry Breese, by a son, Frank A. Hurley, by a grandson, Matthew Ellis, by an infant brother, John Hurley, by three sisters, Eva Jones, Ruth Gratton and Sally Pacher and by a son-in-law, Joe Holts.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, June 8, 2021at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington.
