Francine Joy Lane 10/10/34 - 2/2/24 In memory of Fran, a Brooklyn girl born to Edith and Abraham Auerbach. Life unfolded sweetly with abundant love from many, many uncles. Her joy knew no bounds with the arrival of baby brother Neil (Sima). Graduating SUNY Cortland Teachers College paved the way for her fortunate encounter and marriage with fellow Brooklynite Ronald Lane. Fran dedicating 26 years to teaching Kindergarten at Saw Mill Elementary. Long Island was calling, and together with Ron, they embraced the adventures of parenthood, welcoming Barry (Merida), Robin (Keith), and twins Jodie and David (Janet). Joy multiplied threefold with the arrival of grandchildren – Rayana (Joseph), Allison (Andrew), Matasia (Benjamin), Rosetta (Nick), Austin (Ksenia), and Asa; Fran became Granny Franny. Love continued to flourish through the generations, extending to great-great-grandchildren, twins Lainey and Colby, and newborn Silvester. Fran found solace and joy in the gentle rhythm of the beach and the stroll along the boardwalk. Reading, Broadway, shopping, and engaging in heartfelt conversations, passions she held dear, brought her immense happiness. Her fondness for talking, particularly on the couch, with cherished ones, extended into the wee hours, creating lasting memories of warmth and connection. Fran also embraced the opportunity to explore the United States and foreign lands, savoring the richness of diverse experiences that travel bestowed upon her. After the devastating loss of Ron, Fran found new love and friendship with Saul Mines and his family. Fran, a woman who understood the profound meaning of love and loss, navigated life with grace, and above all, JOY. With each passing day, she showed up, present and surrounded by beloved friends, nieces and nephews, and family who loved her dearly. The burial service to commemorate Fran's life will take place at Beth David Cemetery, in Elmont, NY on Sunday 2/4/24 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association, funding a cure for dementia; and please share JOY in honor of Franny, embracing the spirit of love and connection that she cherished throughout her life.
