Frances Jane Wafer, 80, of Arlington, Vermont, died December 9, 2018, at Mountain View Center in Rutland, Vermont.
Jane was born July 1, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey to James and Jane (Peters) Rooney. She was raised and attended school in Bayonne, New Jersey. She worked at AT&T for several years before she married and returned to the company in 1985 after raising her children in the Houston area for 20 years. In her retirement, Jane was fortunate to spend her time with her two grandchildren, Eric and Alex. She enjoyed watching them grow up and they always held a special place in her heart. Jane was a voracious reader and loved a good crossword puzzle. You could count on Jeopardy being on every night and she loved watching old movies with her two spoiled cats, Lucy and Buttons.
Jane is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Lennon and her husband, Wesley of Houston, Texas and Julie Trayah and her husband, Reg of Arlington, Vermont. Her grandchildren, Eric Trayah and his wife, Alicia of St. Albans, Vermont and Alexander Trayah of Arlington, Vermont. Jane also recently welcomed a great-grandson, Benjamin James Trayah.
Jane was very close to her three sisters, Grace Shepherd of New Jersey, Joan Campbell also of New Jersey (who predeceased her in 2018) and Lorraine DuChene of Michigan (who predeceased her in 2009).
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. Her care at both Rutland Regional Medical Center and Mountain View Center was exceptionally caring and a great comfort to her family.
