BENNINGTON-
Mrs. Frances E. Hunt, 89, a resident of North Branch Street in Bennington, VT passed away January 15th 2022 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
She was born at the Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington on February 5th, 1932. She was the daughter of the late George and Theresa (Mattison) Wood. She received her early education in Shaftsbury and was a 1950 graduate of Bennington High School. She married Richard Hunt on April 29th, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Bennington. Together they had five children. Richard passed away on March 29th, 2012.
In earlier years, Frances had been employed at Empire Dry Cleaners, the Polygraphic Company in North Bennington, Woolworths, the Union Carbide Corporation and Eveready, from which she retired from in 1994.
Frances was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Bennington where she served on the missions board. She was also a member of the Taconic Grange in Shaftsbury and the Woman of the Moose. Frances loved spending her time volunteering for Red Cross Blood Drives and different events with RSVP. She even received an award for her hours of volunteer work, presented to her by Governor Douglas.
Survivors include two sons; Terry R. (Dorothy) Hunt, of Chesterfield, New Hampshire and Roger F. Hunt, of Bennington; two daughters; Krystal (Charles) Morse, of Bennington and Melody (Chris) Burke, of Shaftsbury. Eleven grandchildren; James R. Hunt, Shawn Hunt, Miranda Hunt, Susan Belville, Jodie Allen, Jason Hunt, Benjamin Hunt, Mirralyn Hunt, Zane Burke, Christopher Burke and Aaron Burke. Thirteen great grandchildren. A brother, John Wood, of Shaftsbury, VT, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frances was predeceased by one son, Timothy G. Hunt, and a brother, Roger Wood.
Friends and family are invited to call at the First Baptist Church on January 19th, 2022 from 12-1pm. The funeral will begin at 1pm at the church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
