Ethel J. Pratt, 99, a former longtime resident of Bennington, VT died Sunday November 13, 2022 at the home of her son in Branson, Missouri. She was born in Adams, MA October 11, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Violet (Sorell) Barschdorf. Ethel received her education in Bennington and was a 1941 graduate of Bennington High School. She later graduated from St. Joseph’s Business College. She married John H. Forkey at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington. Mr. Forkey was killed in the Battle of the Bulge in WW II. In 1946 she married Wilford N. Pratt at St. Peter's. Mr. Pratt died in 1982. Previously employed as school secretary at Sacred Heart School and also as Sacred Heart Parish bookkeeper. A very active member of Saint Peters Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Vestry and Altar Guild. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl A. Pratt of Branson, MO. A son, Dennis M. Pratt of Branson, Missouri. A grandson, Dylan W. Pratt of Branson along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son, Raymond Pratt who died in 1976, two sisters, Jane E. Marino and Irene Joly along with five brothers, Arthur, James, William, Alfred and John. A memorial service will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday November 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The burial will take place at the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington at the convenience of the family.
