Ernest F. Conklin Sr.

May 3, 1957 — October 28, 2016

Ernest Fitzherbert Conklin Sr., 59, a former resident of Bennington, VT and Cambridge, NY and more recently of Raymond, New Hampshire died suddenly at his home on Friday October 28, 2016.
He was born in Bennington, VT the eldest son of Joyce (Knights) Conklin Burgess and the late Charles H. Conklin Jr. He received his education in Bennington, VT and Cambridge, NY.
Ernie was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from 1976 to 1980. He married the former Sara Hurley on April 27, 1985 in Woodford, VT.
He was employed by the United States Post Office in White River Junction, VT., as a mail handler for over twenty years.
Ernie enjoyed music, computers and race cars. He loved fishing and boating and was known for his wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Sara Conklin of Raymond, N.H., his children, Samantha Werkheiser and her spouse Jewel of Waverly, N.Y. and Ernest Conklin II and his significant other Ashley Taylor of Raymond, N.H.; three grandchildren, his mother Joyce Burgess of Bennington; Four brothers, Charles III, Willis, James and David Conklin; Three sisters, Lori Brace, Gladys and Cheryl Conklin along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday November 3, at noon.
The burial will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
