Ernest Elijah Carpenter

Ernest E. Carpenter, 62, a resident of 231 Bradford Street, Bennington, VT - died on Thursday, August 15, 2024 following a long battle with cancer.

Born on December 12, 1961, he was the son of the late Donald and Stella (Tatro) Carpenter. He received his education in the Bennington Schools.

Ernie was a talented carpenter. In earlier years, he was self-employed, then worked for many, many contractors in and around the area. He was a man of many talents. He built a fracking machine and made some amazing tables and various items. He also became a master of working on his lathe machine - making some amazing wooden bowls and other wooden pieces. His passion was his woodworking and always learning new techniques. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Brunina) Carpenter of 41 years - married on May 14, 1983; his brothers Lawrence (Larry) and Donald Carpenter, half-brother Robert Hill; his sister and brother in-laws; Mary & James Snead, and Barbara & Daniel Sunkes. As well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Stella (Tatro) and Donald Carpenter.

Calling hours will be held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home located at 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201 on Wednesday, August 28th from 5:00-7:00pm.
