Elsine M. Sweet (Moss)

September 25, 1931 — December 13, 2019

Mary Elsine Moss LaCroix Sweet, age 88, a former resident of North Bennington, and currently of Manchester Center, died on Friday, December 13, 2109 following a long illness.

She was born on September 25, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Kelson) Moss. She grew up in Old Bennington, and received her education in Bennington schools. She married Gerald J. LaCroix on November 15, 1949, who predeceased her. She married Gordon Sweet on July 3, 2000 in Burlington. Over the years she worked in real estate sales at Bennington agencies, including the Charles G. Harte Agency, Hoisington Realty, and Perrott Real Estate. In earlier years, Elsine was employed at the BenMont Paper Company, Sears, and Montgomery Wards. Elsine enjoyed reading, gardening, and creating dollhouse miniatures.

She is survived by her children: David (Lowre) LaCroix of Arlington, VT, Robin La Croix of Watkins Glen, NY, Susan (Michael) Paré of Starksboro, VT, Michael LaCroix of Mill Valley, CA, and Theresa "Teri" LaCroix of Burlington, VT.
Elsine leaves her sister, Elizabeth "Bette" Gershanick, twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in the Spring of 2020.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
