Elaine Joyce Letourneau

Elaine Joyce Letourneau, 68, a resident of North Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully following a long illness on October 10th, 2023 at Crescent Manor Nursing Home. Born in June 14th, 1955 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Naomi (Ruska) Colditz. Elaine was raised and received her early education in Amsterdam. She later graduated from Amsterdam High School and then revived her bachelors degree in Journalism from Utica College in Utica, NY. On May 14th, 1983, Elaine Married Charlie Letourneau at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. As a young woman, Elaine moved to Bennington and became a commercial loan officer for Merchants Bank. She later began working for the Bank of Bennington, eventually becoming the Senior Commercial Loan Officer. Elaine’s career in banking spanned over 30 years and created many lasting connections within the community. Elaine was an avid swimmer and enjoyed going to the Bennington Recreation Center. She also enjoyed reading as well as spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. Elaine was also very involved in Her community; she was a member of the Finance Committee for Applegate Housing and also helped create Mayfest in Bennington. These contributions to her community earned her the honor of being named Vermont Community Service Banker of the year in 2012 by the Vermont Bankers Association. Elaine was also a very active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington; she was the youth ministry coordinator for over 10 years. Survivors include her husband of 40 years; Charles Letourneau. Her children; Jennifer Moore (Ryan) and Kristen Luce (Wes). Her two grandchildren; Noah Moore and Ezra Luce. As well as a sister in law; Jane Betit (Kenneth). Elaine is predeceased by a brother; Vernon Colditz. Calling Hours for Elaine will be held on Monday October 16th, 2023 at Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington from 10am till 12pm. A funeral service will be offered by Father Kevin Russeau at 12pm. Following the conclusion of the service. There will be a graveside committal service at the family lot in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemtery at 1:30pm. The family would like to thank the staff of: the Watson House In North Bennington, Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington, and The Bennington Recreation Center, for all of the care and support they offered to Elaine during her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
