Elaine H. Dalton, 84, widow of Allan Dalton, died Monday July 15, 2019 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.
She was born in Bennington, Vermont September 6, 1934.She was the daughter of the late Maynard and Gertrude (Colvin) Hedding. Elaine received her education in North Bennington and was a graduate of North Bennington High School Class of 1952. She later graduated from Saint Joseph's Business College in Bennington Class of 1954.
Mr. and Mrs. Dalton were married in North Bennington September 17, 1960. They lived primarily in Vermont but had also lived in California and Massachusetts. Elaine and Allan were married for 36 years prior to the death of Mr. Dalton on November 11, 1996. Together Elaine and Allan traveled extensively throughout most of the United States and had traveled abroad to many different countries including, Hong Kong, Australia, England, Scotland and Wales. Throughout their travels they met many wonderful people. Elaine has no regrets, her and Allan had a very good life together.
For many years Elaine was employed at various automobile dealerships in Bennington and in earlier years Garden Grove, California. She later became the proprietor of the Trolley Car Trading Post on Route 7A until the time of her retirement. Elaine enjoyed the theatre, spending time with family and friends and watching sporting events
Survivors include three nieces, Beverly Hedding of Castletown on Hudson NY and Lynda Dio and Dawn Blakeman of the Shelton, CT area; two nephews, Wayne Hedding and his wife Carol of Pittsfield, MA, and Tim LaCroix and his family of Carey, North Carolina and a close friend, Kathy Satterthwaite of Bennington. She was pre-deceased by a brother and two sisters, Earl Hedding, Edna Hedding and Evelyn Steinis.
A graveside service will be held at the family lot at the Center Shaftsbury Cemetery on Saturday September 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Penny Rich Smith officiating.
At Elaine's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
