Edward James Sweet, 53, a resident of North Branch St. in Bennington died unexpectedly on Saturday July 29, 2017 at the Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Bennington, VT September 18, 1963. He was the son of the late David and Margaret (Harrington) Sweet who survives. Ed received his education in Bennington and was a 1982 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.
In earlier years Ed was employed at NSK in Bennington.
An avid sports fan, Ed was a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan. He played in the men's softball and basketball leagues in Bennington and also played volleyball.
Survivors include his daughter, Laci Walsh of Arlington, a son, Troy Sweet of Arlington, two stepchildren, Richard Winters and Stephanie Rose both of North Adams, MA, a grandson, Tyson Walsh of Arlington, his mother Margaret Sweet of Bennington. Three brothers, David and Theresa Sweet, Ira and Heidi Sweet and William Sweet all of Bennington. A sister Monica Sweet and Corey of Bennington along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday August 2, from 5:00 to 7;00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
