Edward C. Ransom, 81, of Shaftsbury, VT, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Edward was born in Norwalk, CT on June 5, 1943, the son of the late Edward R. and Natalina (Zucchi) Ransom. He was a graduate of Hudson valley Community College. Edward married Anne Austin on July 6, 1968, at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington, VT.
Edward served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Edward taught Building Trade at the Career Development Center in Bennington from 1980-2004. He was a Ham radio operator and was a member of the Southern Vermont Amateur Radio Club (SOVARC). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and loved flying his model airplanes. Edward always provided entertainment for his family.
Edward is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne, of Shaftsbury, VT, his children; Edward A. Ransom of Shaftsbury, VT, Kimberly (Michael) Warren of Shaftsbury, VT, Marcy (Henry) Martinka of Shaftsbury, VT, Jamie Ransom of N. Bennington, VT and Bradley Ransom of N. Bennington, VT. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brandon (Kristina) Mattison, Tracey (Mark) Mattison-Barber, Austin (Kaity) Martinka, and Carter Ransom, his great grandchildren; Adelyn Mattison, Nova Barber, Theo Barber, Avri Mattison, Amara Mattison and Benjamin Barber, his sister, Susan (Michael) Taylor of Shaftsbury, VT and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington, VT on Thursday August 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Church on Thursday August 8, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the time of the Mass at 1:00 PM.
