Dustin Hawk Lynds, age 24, a resident of Harwood Hill in Bennington, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Plattsburgh, NY.

He was born in Bennington, VT on October 4, 1993 and was the son Walter and Rachel (Harrington) Lynds. He received his education in Cambridge, NY.

Dustin was a police officer with the Bennington Police Department at the time of his death. He had previously been a deputy in the Bennington County Sheriff's Department. Dustin was currently a member of the Vermont National Guard Unit in Bennington.

Dustin is survived by one son, Kenneth Lynds of North Hoosick, his parents, Walter and Rachel Lynds of Buskirk, NY, two brothers: Benjamin Lynds and Arthur & Angela Lynds and one sister, Shania Lynds and her fiancé Elijah Willett. He leaves his nephews Liam and Owen Lynds and his niece Zoey Lynds; his maternal grandparents; Chris and Mary Lou Harrington, maternal great grandmother, Rita Kittel, his paternal grandmother Yvonne Lynds, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Dustin is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Jeannie Harrington and maternal great grandmother, Louise Ogert.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington at 4:00PM. Interment with military honors will follow in Rosewood Cemetery in White Creek.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1PM until 4PM.
