Duane E. Ford, 87, a resident of Crescent Blvd., Bennington died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at his residence following a long illness.
Born in Kansas City, KS on February 5, 1933, he was the son of the late Merlin and Marjorie (Moore) Ford. He received his early education in the Kansas City schools and received his Bachelors Degree from Rockhurst University there prior to entering the U. S. Navy where he served for four years.
Duane married the former Rose Marie Townsend on April 26, 1958 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY. Rosemary died January 3, 2015.
For thirty two years Duane worked for the Administration for Children's Services, Child Welfare Division for the City of New York where he was serving as Supervisor at the time of his retirement. He was a history buff and his favorite pastimes also included reading and listening to classical music.
Survivors include five children, Keith Ford (Valerie) of Santa Fe, NM, Mary Ford-Clarke, Evan Ford, Conan Ford (Rosa Maria) and Melanie Ford, all of Bennington; seven grandchildren, Erin Clarke, Juan, Victoria and Conan Ford Jr., John, Liam and Andrew Ford; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Ford Burton of Missoula, MT. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered.
