Douglas E. Saunders

He was born in Arlington, VT January 10, 1942. He was the son of the late Herman and Clara Inez (Bentley) Saunders. He received his education in Rupert, VT.
Doug married the former Susanne Mattison on August 16, 1958.
For over 33 years Doug was employed at Bijur in Bennington from which he retired.
He was a life member of the Bennington Fire Department (Eagle Hose) and a former member of the Bennington Elks, Moose and American Legion Post 13. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Susanne Saunders of Bennington. His six children and their spouses, Priscilla Setzer and her husband Richard of Shaftsbury, Donna Hall and her husband Rodney of Hoosick, Laurie Saunders and her husband Moe of Bennington, Cathy Fuller and her husband Michael of Marlboro, Douglas L. Saunders and his wife Pamela of Bennington and Paul Saunders and his wife Marci of Bennington. Nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Three sisters, Veronica Saville, Vona Wood, Victoria Fifield and two brothers, James and Kenneth Saunders. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Verna Hoyt and four brothers, Ronald, Theodore, Lyndus and Kevin Saunders.
At the request of Mr. Saunders there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
The burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
