Dorothy Pauline Strong

Dorothy P. Strong, 85, of North Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully at her home on May 17, 2023. Dot was born in Troy, NY on April 26, 1938, the daughter of Irving and Wanda (Raczskowski) Hunt. She married Dennis E. Strong in 1980. Dot worked as a housekeeper at the Catamount Motel in Bennington for several years prior to her marriage to Dennis. She helped her husband raise, train and race Thoroughbred horses for many years where she did whatever was necessary, including cleaning stalls, helping jockeys mount up, exercising the horses all while also maintaining the household. She is survived by her husband, Dennis of North Bennington, VT, her daughter; Susan Philburt of Myrtle Beach, SC, her stepdaughters; Thelma Sue Strong of Bellows Falls, VT and Regina Davis of Florida. Dot is also survived by her grandchildren; Ashley Myers, Allison Philburt, Dustin Philburt and Amanda Knickerbocker, her siblings; Linda Hunt of Buskirk, NY, Stanley I. Hunt of Buskirk, NY, Edwin I. Hunt of Hoosick Falls, NY and Gary Hunt of Bennington, VT, a nephew, Timothy (Cathy) Strong and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Gibbons, her brother, Larry Joe Hunt and her sister, Marie Rogers. Funeral services for Dorothy will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
