Donna Mae Patterson, age 81, a longtime resident of Pownal, died on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington with family by her side, following a well fought battle over the last few months.
She was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts on December 31, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Bernadette (King) Buck. Following her father's death a young age, Donna was raised by her step-father, Milton Jeffers. She attended schools in Williamstown.
She was married on September 20, 1958 to John Patterson. They were married for 42 years. Mr. Patterson predeceased her in 2001. For thirty years, Donna had been employed at Pownal Elementary School as a Para-professional and as a school bus driver. After retiring, Donna did some traveling and went to work at CVS Pharmacy in Bennington for ten years. When she wasn't working, Donna enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, Florida vacations, BINGO and the Casinos. She was a member at the Pownal Senior Citizens Center.
Donna is survived by one son: John S. Patterson (Darcy) of Oak Harbor, Washington, and two daughters; Debbie Montour (Rene) of Bennington, and Cindy Leonard (Chris Schnopp) of Hoosick, New York.
Donna leaves her grandchildren; Jodi Patterson, Bonnie Patterson, Chris Dunham (Betsy), Mike Dunham (Lexie), Sarah Sausville, Madison Crawford, and Chloe Crawford, as well as her great grandchildren: Keegan and Karter Dunham, Natalia and Cecilia Dunham, Jori Piacenza, Darian Matsuhita, Amaya Patterson, and Sawyer Crawford. Donna leaves one sister; Rosalie Noyes of Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her parents, and siblings; Alfred Buck, Theresa Weyers and Francis Buck.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, at 10:00AM at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Monday, June 28 from 4:00 until 7:00PM
A reception will immediately follow the graveside services at the Elks Barn on Washington Ave.
