Donna Jean Johnson (Contois)

July 13, 1966 — February 16, 2020

Donna Jean Johnson, age 53, a resident of Gore Road in Bennington, died on Sunday, February 16, 2020 following a long illness.

She was born in North Adams, MA on July 13, 1966, and was the daughter of the late Fernand and Florence (Martell) Contois. She received her education in Bennington, and is a graduate of Mt. Anthony High School.

Donna married Michael Johnson in 1987. He predeceased her in 2001. For many years Donna had been employed as a Care Giver for At Home Senior Care. Donna enjoyed crocheting, reading, taking rides, gardening, going out to eat and spending time with her family and grand dogs.

Donna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and R.J. Hughs of Bennington, VT. One step-grandson, Tanner Hughs of Bennington. She leaves her sister and brother-in-law: Mary and Michael Weber, Sr. of Pownal, VT. Donna is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and her grand dogs: Siglo Wayne, and Malcom Wayne.

She is predeceased by her husband, Michael, her parents, one sister, Karen Contois, and one brother, Roger Contois. She is also predeceased by her grand dogs: Buffy Marie and Mac.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, February 20, 2020, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT at 3:00PM. Interment will take place in the spring in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal, VT.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00PM until the time of the services.
