Donna Jean Barriere

Donna J. Barriere (née Robert), 89, died Monday, December 23, 2024 at Southern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She was born in Adams, MA on November 11, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Phylius and Anna (DeMers) Robert. Donna received her schooling and High School Diploma in Adams, MA. She married the late Arthur J. Barriere, Jr. in Adams, MA on November 24, 1960. Donna was a secretary in education in the SVSU district, at Brookside, Catamount, and Monument schools. She worked at Urological Associates as well. She volunteered as a Grey Lady at Southern Vermont Medical Center for many years. She enjoyed watching the Catholic TV Network daily masses and the Game Show Network. She also loved puzzling and watching the birds at her feeders. In her earlier years, she loved sitting on the front porch with her dog, Patches, and camping at Deer Run. Her main interests were her family, and more recently her great-grandchildren. She also loved her daily phone calls with her best friend, Norina. Survivors include her children, Karen Ranttila of Bennington and Michael Barriere and partner Tracey Schwarz of Bennington. Five grandchildren, Chris Barriere and wife Lindsay Barriere, Amanda Ranttila, Emily Ranttila, Hayley Barriere and Jacob Ranttila. Two great-grandchildren, Summit and Saige Barriere. The funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11am. The family will be available at the church starting at 10:30am to receive visitors. There will be a light reception in the Parish Center following the mass.
