Donald A. Parizo Sr., 84 of Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully on Friday July 6th, 2024, at Crescent Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington Vermont. Donald was born on October 16, 1939, in Bennington Vermont, the son of the Late Harold Parizo and Laura (Daudelin) Parizo. He was the youngest of three boys. On February 10, 2024, Don lost “Patti” after 66 Years of marriage. Don was predeceased by both of his brothers Conrad Parizo Sr. of Pownal and Laurence Parizo of Bennington, Vermont. Donald received his early education at Sacred Heart School, where he served as an Alter boy. Don attended and graduated from Bennington High School in 1957. After graduating he joined the United States Air Force and married his sweetheart Patty. He served in the Airforce until 1968 and was a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. After leaving the Air Force, Don returned to Bennington with his family where he remained until his passing. Upon returning from the Air Force Don worked for W.H. Morse, The US Post Office, UST, and Retired from the US Post Office as a letter carrier in 1996. Throughout his life Don had many adventures and was very industrious, he worked diligently to always provide for his family, from driving trucks, locksmithing, to driving Taxi’s, and as a medical courier, driving students and elderly people to appointments. Don was known and loved by many. Don was a devoted husband and father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Don always had a twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face and a good word for everyone. Don would help anyone. Donald is survived by two sons: Donald A. (Pamela) Parizo, Jr., of Rutland, VT, and Robert (Barbara) Parizo of Suffolk, Virginia. His grandchildren; Amanda Parizo (Jason) of Farr West Utah, Jacqueline Maisonet (Heriberto) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Emilee Parizo of Exton, PA. Three great grandchildren Jackson Barber, Isabella, and Liam Maisonet. Many Nieces and Nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Donald at Sacred Heart/St. Francis Church in Bennington on Saturday July 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street in Bennington on Friday July 12, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
