Donald Henry Cherbonneau

Donald Henry Cherbonneau, 94, a well known and lifelong resident of Manchester, VT died Sunday January 23, 2022 in Charlestown, New Hampshire.

He was born at the home of the President of Burr & Burton Seminary on September 26, 1927. Don was the son of the late Henry and Irene (Perry) Cherbonneau. He received his education in Manchester and was a 1945 graduate of Burr & Burton Seminary.

After high school, he served time in the U.S. Army, stationed in Tokyo, working in General MacArthur's office building. Afterwards, Don was employed by his father as a mechanic at the former Gulf Station in Manchester. Don purchased the station from his father and the business was converted to a Sunoco Station, which Don operated for many years. For 21 years Don was then employed by Suburban Propane. After moving to Ocala, Florida Don was employed by K-Mart until the age of 80. He later moved back to his hometown of Manchester.

An avid golfer, Don was a member of the Equinox Country Club. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time at the Skinner Hollow camp, on Mt. Equinox. Proudly, he was a life member of both the Manchester Eagles and the VFW Post # 6471. At the VFW, he enjoyed employment in maintenance and performing Chaplain duties for the post.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Ann Cherbonneau of Claremont, N.H. and Darcy Marie Swan(Brad) of Claremont, N.H. A son, Henry Neal Cherbonneau of Sabattus, Maine and a sister Carol Pash of Springfield, MA. Eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his Daughter, Alison Grant, Grandson Shawn F. Cherbonneau, and a Sister Jean Russell.

Services for Don will be announced at a later date at the convenience of the family.

The burial with military honors will take place at the family plot at St. Columban's Cemetery in Arlington, VT at a time to be announced.
