Dolores S. Poole (Sawoska)
December 15, 1935 — January 15, 2020
Born in Torrington, CT on December 15, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Gaviola) Sawoska. She received her education in the Torrington schools and in 1982 graduated with highest honors from Central Connecticut College receiving her Bachelors in Education.
Dolores married Caleb M. Poole on May 9, 1953. Mr. Poole died June 18, 2007.
Prior to moving to Bennington Dolores was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Farmington, CT. In 1984 they retired to Pownal where they built their home.
Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and the PALS Group for the Visually Impaired in Bennington. She enjoyed gardening, reading and cassettes from the Library of the Blind.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Diane (Robert) Gaylord of West Charleston, VT, Irene (Tim) Kellerstedt of Burlington, CT and Edward (Denise) Poole of Bristol, CT; eight grandchildren, Karen Gaylord Benson, Kelly Gaylord Mixon, Beth Kellerstedt Birden, Kurt Kellerstedt, Kyle Poole, Jocelyn Poole Dailey, Jon Rousseau and Jess Rousseau Mattas; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dolores was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Sawoska.
Memorial services celebrating the life of Dolores Poole will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, January 24, 2019 at 12 noon.
