Denise Angers Cranston

November 18, 1948 — January 29, 2022

WOODFORD-Denise Angers Cranston, 73, passed away on January 29th following a long illness.

She was born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on November 18, 1948 to the late Mark and Giselle (Juneau) Angers. She was raised in Quebec City and educated by the Ursulines. Denise received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Universite Laval. Then she went on to get her Masters in Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh and returned to Quebec for a teaching position at Universite Laval. She moved to Boston, Massachusetts for a position at Spaulding Rehabilitation Center.

It was in Boston that she met her husband, Chris Cranston. After marrying they eventually moved to The Bennington area. This is also when Denise continued her career as a nurse at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Newton Wellesley Hospital. They purchased the old Sunshine Cottage at Prospect Mountain and created a home of love, humor and hospitality.

Denise was loved by her family and friends for her cheerfulness and kindness. She was an avid traveler, cook and reader and was fond of her local book club.

Denise is survived by her husband Chris, her son Alec and daughter Kinna and Kinna's husband "CJ". She also leaves behind her brother Jacques, and family and friends both in the US and Quebec.

Denise was predeceased by her parents, a sister Louise, a brother Marco, and former spouse Bruce Becker.

The Cranston Family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers at the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center as well as the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care. The dedicated care she received in her final months is truly appreciated.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday February 12, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. A celebration of Denise's life will be held at 2:00 p.m.
