Denise Ann (Martin) Barton, 67, a resident of North Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully in the comfort of her family on July 23, 2023. Denise was born on August 3, 1955 in North Adams, MA and was the daughter of the late James and Lorraine (Brooks) Martin. In her early years she and her family lived in Clarksburg, MA where she received her early education. Her family later moved to Bennington where Denise graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School (class of 1973). She furthered her education at Johnson State College. In her early working career Denise was a secretary for United Counseling Service. She then moved on to operate and own the Bottle Stop Redemption Center on Pleasant Street where her face became familiar to many. Denise spent the last 20 plus years of her career as a seamstress with Porta Brace in Bennington sewing professional camera cases. One of Denise’s favorite passions was spending time with family and friends. It was a special joy when she had a chance to spend time and chat with her son Benjamin. Denise also had a loving passion for animals almost always having a dog. Besides her pet dogs she at one time had a pet pigeon who adopted her and for several years lived in Denise’s garage. Denise was not only extremely creative but also highly talented. Among her passions was that of cooking. She could always conjure up any recipe and her cheesecakes were a family favorite especially during the holidays. Another passion was sewing. Denise often altered or made various items for family and friends. There was absolutely no job too big for her when it came to cooking or sewing and she seemed to enjoy the challenge. Survivors include her son Benjamin J.J. Barton (fiancé Emily and her son Jack), her partner and best friend Eugene W. Brambley along with his daughters and grandchildren, her brothers Paul J. Martin (Ellen) of Shaftsbury and Thomas A. Martin (Tamy) and her two (2) nephews Travis and Caley Martin both of Shaftsbury. Denise is also survived by many cousins and friends. Services for Denise will be private and at the convenience of her family.
