David George Sweet, age 59, a resident of Bennington, Vermont died on Friday, June 29, 2018 at his home unexpectedly.
He was born in Bennington on September 12, 1959, and was the son of the late David E. Sweet and Margaret "Peggy" Sweet who survives. He received his education in local schools. David married the former Teresa Tilley in Bennington on February 17, 1979. They just celebrated their 39th anniversary.
He was employed as a bus driver for the Green Mountain Community Network. David was a very active member of Green Mountain Christian Center in Bennington and a Deacon at the church. He was an avid car fan, and had owned several muscle cars over the years, but loved his corvette. He was a huge New England Patriots fan. David was a dedicated family man, whose wife and kids were everything.
Besides his mother and his wife, he is survived by four children: Melissa (Hyle) Bates of Bennington, Amanda (Seth) Loveland of Bennington, David Sweet and his fiancé Laurie Harris of Bennington, and Cory Matthew Sweet and his fiancé Joselyn Condo of Bennington. David leaves eight grandchildren: Zoey Bates, Annalise and Jack Loveland, Calvin and Carson James, David Sweet, Mersaydez, and Cory Matthew Sweet, Jr. He also leaves two brothers; Ira (Heidi) Sweet and William Sweet, and his sister Monica Sweet, all of Bennington. He is also survived by one uncle Douglas (Linda) Sweet and several cousins. He also leaves his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws; Sheri and Cliff Ruschmeyer, David thought of Sheri as a daughter, Francis Tilley,
Mark and Heidi Tilley, Duane and Donna Tilley, Becki and Jerry Elliott, and David Tilley. David is predeceased by one brother Edward Sweet who died in 2017, and one sister-in-law, Cynthia Tilley.
A Remembrance of his Life will be held on Monday evening, July 9, 2018 at 6:00PM at the Green Mountain Christian Center. Friends may call at the church from 5:00 until 6:00.
