David Richard Peterson, 19, a resident of East Road in Shaftsbury died suddenly Thursday February 20, 2020 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Petersburgh, New York.
He was born in Albany, New York March 16, 2000. Son of Richard D. Peterson and Lisa (Pratt) Peterson. David received his elementary education in Shaftsbury, attended the Mount Anthony Middle School, and was a 2019 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.
David was a very motivated and committed individual, driven by his desire to do well in all that he pursued. He was always looking for a good outcome. He was dedicated to his family and made time for his many friends. He was known for being able to talk to anyone. David's strong values and loyalty stemmed from his relationship with the Lord and those that helped disciple him. His infectious smile was contagious.
His first job was assisting the Norshaft Little League Allstars as their official "Bat Boy," a job he took very seriously! He started playing soccer and basketball in the 7th grade and was a member of the Mount Anthony Varsity Soccer team. He enjoyed swimming, running and working on his car. David volunteered refereeing youth soccer and basketball games. David had been employed at Ramuntos. He was most recently employed by Breadloaf Construction and was working on the Putnam Block Project in Bennington. He aspired to be a master carpenter.
David's immediate family include his parents, Richard and Lisa Peterson of Shaftsbury, VT, Rachel Peterson of Chicago, Illinois, Eric (Lyndsey) Peterson of Bennington, and Jack Peterson of the US Air Force, stationed in Japan. David has a nephew, Blake, a niece, Madalynn, as well as many friends and family. He also leaves a special friend, Andrea.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday February 28, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral will be held at the North Pownal Congregational Church on Saturday February 29, at 10:30 a.m. A processional will follow to Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, VT.
