David Anthony Brookman

August 14, 1926 — July 8, 2021

David Anthony Brookman, 94, a resident of Water St. in North Bennington died peacefully Thursday July 8, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Pownal, VT August 14, 1926. He was the son of the late Ronald and Ada (Bratcher) Brookman. Dave received his education in Bennington and attended Bennington High School. Dave left high school to join the United States Navy serving during World War II.

He married the former Lucille Pellerin on August 11, 1956 at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Mrs. Brookman died July of 1993. He later married Hughette Bourdeleau. Hughette died in 2004

In earlier years Dave had been employed at Sprague Electric and later at General Electric in Pittsfield. He also worked at Bijur Lubricating and Warren Wire. For 35 years Dave worked as a welder at Lauzon Machine Shop from which he retired.

He was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge # 567, the VFW Post 1332 and the American Legion Post 13. Dave was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening. He loved camping, especially at the Lake Dunmore Campground.

Survivors include his children, Jeff Brookman (Denise) of Boise, Idaho, Bonnie Hurley (Norman) of Bennington. A step son Mike Bourdeleau (Lynn) of Middlebury, VT and a step daughter, Lynne Bennett (Steve) of Manasis, Virginia. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A brother, James Brookman of Pownal and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Sandy McNiff, two sons, David Brookman and Christopher Reynolds, two brothers Edward and Charles and three sisters, Belva, Betty and Eleanor

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday July 12, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 pm

The burial with military honors will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
