Darlene Walker

Darlene Marie Walker, 71, of Bennington, VT, passed away, with her granddaughter Ashley by her side, after a long struggle with cancer on October 27, 2024, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Darlene was born in Bennington, VT on May 1, 1953, the daughter of Calvin and Dorothy (Sully) Bourtell.

Darlene was a straight shooter. She was always sympathetic but wasn’t afraid to call you out on your “BS.” She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved her coffee. Her greatest gift was being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Darlene is survived by two sons; Stoney Walker of Bennington, VT and Jeff Walker of Corinth, NY, grandchildren; Ashley Walker, Justin Walker and Emma Walker, great grandchildren; Adrianna Walker and Keegan Wilson and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Sonny Bourtell and Mike Gates both of Bennington, VT. Darlene was predeceased by her siblings, Linda Blair, David Gates and Bruce Gates.

A gathering in memory of Darlene will take place on Sunday November 3, 2024 from 2-5 PM at the home of her granddaughter, Ashley, at 141 Benmont Ave Bennington, VT.
