Darlene Raye Brown

BENNINGTON- Darlene Raye Brown, 67, a resident of Bennington, VT passed away on January 10th, 2024 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ on December 24th, 1956 to the late George Mullen and Shirley Smith. Darlene grew up in Randolph with her 13 brothers and sisters. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also found joy in playing cards, hand crochet, word searches and older television shows- especially M.A.S.H. and The Golden Girls. Going for car rides was also something she greatly enjoyed. She was a spitfire and very good at being stubborn. Darlene is survived by her two children; Daniel Brown and Jolene Brown, both of Bennington, VT. She has two grandchildren; Angelique Tyrell and Damien Brown, both of Bennington, VT. Five sisters; Linda Barrett, Cheryl Jones, Georgette Gibbs, Kathy Holbrook, and Lori Abrue, and one brother, Bruce Mullen. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Darlene was predeceased by two brothers; Jimmy Smith and Lloyd Mullen. Three sisters; Brenda Vasquez, Joanne Mitchell and Ginger Mitchell. Darlene was recently predeceased by her cat, Midnight. There will be no formal funeral services at this time. The family would like to thank the staff of Bennington Health and Rehab, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the Kidney Dialysis Department and the Bennington Rescue Squad for the care they provided Darlene with. Memorial donations in memory of Darlene may be made directly to the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201 to help the family with the funeral bill.
