Cosmo Peacefully passed away on December 19th, 2020 at the Vermont Veteran's Home, he was born October 26th, 1934.
Son of Anthony D'Eredita and Dorothy Sembrat, grew up in Syracuse, graduating Syracuse High School, Cosmo entered the the Air Force in January 1955 where he worked as a Jet engine mechanic, stationed in South Africa. He was honorably discharged. He married Ruth Kimpel and had three daughters, Robin D'Eredita(Mitch, Jason, and Natalie), Cheryl Walker (Eric and Michael) and Sandy Yates (Zachary and Stacy). While in Syracuse, Cosmo continued his work as a Jet engine mechanic for American Airlines.
After his divorce he moved to Manchester Vermont in 1967, to be with Mother Dorothy and Stepfather Clyde Mattison, working for Clyde Mattison Plumbing and Heating. He met Gertrude Walsh while working at the notorious Five Flies and Sirloin Saloon in Manchester, they Married July 28th, 1968 and have two daughters Trudie Parker (Kirsten) and Angela Wood and Husband Travis (Dillon and Rachael). Residing in East Dorset for over 48 years, Cosmo started his own business as a Master Plumber, which operated for many years. After succeeding with his own business, he went on to work for Dorr Oil Company as a master plumber. After many years he retired from Dorr Oil and went back to school to get certified in Early Childhood Education.
During his lifetime Cosmo had a multitude of interests, while maintaining his position as the number one horse show dad. Spending many Sunday's reading the paper under the trees at Pond Hill Stables, he was a huge supporter of the Red and White Booster club, the Vermont Horseman's Association, and the Rough Riders 4H club. While spending a majority of the summer months scooting around various campgrounds on his electric scooter, instigating water gun fights with his grandchildren on summer vacations. Cosmo found his calling, which he enjoyed greatly, working with young children at The Northshire Day School. Retiring again due to health reasons, he then spent his time enjoying retirement and time with his family
Cosmo is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gertrude D'Eredita of East Dorset, a daughter, Trudie Parker of Shoreham, daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Travis Wood of Manchester Center and also daughters Robin and Sandy of the Syracuse, NY area. Also his grandchildren and great grandchildren and siblings Theresa (Paul) Elmstrom, sister-in-law, Patricia D'Eredita, Mary (Brian) Sallisky, David Mattison, Cathy Mattison, and Robert Mattison.
He was predeceased by his daughter Cheryl and Husband Michael Walker, brother Richard D'Eredita, Nephew Peter Elmstrom, Niece Kimberly D'Eredita as well several Aunts and Uncles.
The family would like to express much love and gratitude to the Vermont Veteran's Home for taking excellent care of Cosmo while in their care.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. from Christ Our Savior Parish in Manchester where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered.
Burial will take place at the family lot in the East Dorset Cemetery
Memorial contributions can be made to the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont, Special Olympics Northshire, or Adirondack Save a Stray Corinth NY.
