Clinton G. McDonald, Jr. 62, a resident of Lyons St. in Bennington, VT died Friday April 30, 2021 at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Hartford, CT May 18, 1958. He was the son of the late Clinton G. McDonald Sr. and Claire (Lorenz) McDonald Harvey. Clinton received his education in Bennington and was a 1976 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. Following High School, Clinton served in the United States Army.
Prior to going into the Army, Clinton was employed at Whitman's Feed Store in North Bennington and after returning from his service he returned to Whitman's where he worked for many years. Prior to his illness, he was employed by Kaman Composites.
He married the former Bethany Harris. Bethany died February 1, 2016.
Clinton was an avid golfer and hunter. He was intrigued by the history of Glastenbury, where he spent many hours of his adult lifetime.
Survivors include his mother, Claire McDonald Harvey of Shaftsbury, VT. A sister, Susan Mann and her husband Tom of Fort Ann, NY and her sons Brian Corcoran of Puyallup, Washington, Preston Hayes and his life partner Rachel Jauch of Bennington, VT and Gregory Hayes of Bloomington, Indiana; and a sister Joanne McDonald of Booth Bay Harbor, Maine and her children Sophie & William Peacock; along with several great nieces and great nephews. He was pre-deceased by a great nephew, Trenton Hayes.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Thursday May 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the family lot at Maple Hill Cemetery in Shaftsbury, VT.
