Christopher W. Gates Jr.

Christopher Walter Gates Jr, 69, of Bennington, VT passed away at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in the early hours of Monday, December 26th 2022. Born on March 9th 1953 in Bennington, VT, he was the son of the late Christopher Gates Sr, and Charlotte (Jordan) Gates. He received his education at Mount Anthony High school. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army where he served as Communications Specialist in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. In Christopher’s younger years, he played baseball and loved to hunt and fish. He was a big fan of country music- especially Johnny Cash. Chris was a hard working man who loved his children and grandchildren very much. If it was one thing that could make him smile, it was his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter Nicole Gates and her children, Christian and Sadie, of Bellows Falls VT; his son Christopher Gates III, of Bennington VT; his daughter Michelle Gates and her children, Celia, Rowan, and Hendrix, of Sunderland, VT; his sister Deborah George, of Pownal, VT; and brothers, George and Nick Gates, of Bennington, VT. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and sister Rose Webber, of Pownal VT. At the request of Christopher, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
