Christopher A. Gallant, 63, a resident of Bradford St. in Bennington, VT died unexpectedly Tuesday May 24, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Bennington, VT August 13, 1958 and is the son of John and Jennie (Watrous) Gallant. Chris received his education in Bennington and was a 1976 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.
He married the former Patricia A. Gerity on September 18, 1982 at the First United Methodist Church in Bennington.
In earlier years Chris worked at Tuttle's, Globe Union, Bijur, A. Brown Company and for the last 25 years Chris has worked as a machinist at Lovejoy Chaplet in Hoosick Falls, NY.
He enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. You could always count on him attending their events and cheering them on. Chris also enjoyed spending time with his Bernese Mountain Dogs. He was a member of the Catamount Bow Hunters and past President of the club where he enjoyed many archery events. Chris coached Little League baseball when his own children played and recently volunteered to help coach his grandchildren's team. Chris also played men's softball in his younger years. He enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling and fishing at Lake Champlain and Lake Paran. Chris was also considered the family handy man. Always the first call when something was broken. His family, grandchildren and his dogs were his main interests.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Gallant of Bennington. His children Bridget Gallant of Bennington, Ashley Walker (Justin) of Bennington, Christopher J. Gallant of Middlebury and Meagan Sherman of Shaftsbury.
Chris also leaves behind his six grandchildren, Samantha Greene, Laikin Gallant, and Wyatt, Wesley, William and Anna Walker; his parents John and Jennie Gallant of Bennington along with four sisters, Sandra Latif (Don) of Shaftsbury, Cathy Harrington (Rick) of Pownal, Debra Brock of Pownal, Tina Gallant (Nancy Brown) of Pownal and a brother Jeffrey Gallant (Joanne) of Terre Haute, Indiana along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday May 31, from noon until 1:00 p.m.
The service to celebrate Chris's life will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
The burial will follow in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
