Christopher J. Gagne, 43, a former resident of Shaftsbury, died unexpectedly Saturday, February 2, 2019 in St. Louis, MO where he had resided for the past year.
Born in Bennington on February 6, 1975, he was the son of Kathleen (Hamilton) Peterson of Bennington, Vermont. He received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School.
While residing in Bennington, Chris operated a "Mr. Fix It" business, repairing computers, small appliances and other items.
He was a tireless advocate for the homeless, prisoners' rights and people with mental health or social justice issues. Chris was a selfless person and without hesitation would give his belongings and time to those he thought needed them more than himself. Chris's favorite pastimes were nature photography, walks with his dogs, listening to music and enjoying the company of friends and family.
Survivors include his mother, Kathleen (Hamilton) Peterson of Bennington; a brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Jacqueline Peterson and their son Finnley of Exeter, NH; his maternal grandmother, Sheila Hamilton of North Bennington and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather James F. Hamilton of North Bennington, Vermont.
Chris was loved by all who had the opportunity to know him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Memorial services celebrating the life of Christopher Gagne will be held in the spring at a time to be announced.
