Christopher M. Evans, 46, a resident of Niles School Road, Pownal, died Friday, April 9, 2021 at New York Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center in New York City following a brief illness.

Born in North Adams, MA on June 6, 1974, he was the son of Nola (Campbell) Evans and the late John W. Evans. Chris received his early education in Pownal and was a 1992 graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School.

Chris worked for many years in the tri-state area as a self-employed stone mason and was well known for his dry laid stone walls. A talented artist, he was accomplished in creating sculptures and one-of-a-kind creations from multiple art mediums. Chris also enjoyed, fishing, kayaking, playing guitar, riding motorcycles and skateboarding in his younger years.

Survivors include his life companion of 19 years, Stephanie Schneski of Pownal; his mother, Nola Evans of Pownal; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lynn Evans and their children, Colby and Caitlyn of Ijamsville, MD; a brother-in-law, Mark Schneski, his wife Katie and their son Eli of Londonderry, VT; several aunts, uncles and many cousins and close friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on August 14, 2021 from 1pm-6pm at the Verdemont Outing Club in Pownal, VT. Please RSVP by July 29, 2021. The family wishes for people to bring a dish to share.
