Mr. Charles A. Lipscomb, 90, a resident of Main Street in Bennington, Vermont died on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
Born in Vindex, Maryland, on March 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Lee M. and Ruby Pearl (Evans) Lipscomb. He received his education in Vindex and Kitzmiller, Maryland.
Mr. Lipscomb was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in World War II, The Korean Conflict, and Viet Nam. He served from 1946 to 1966 and retired as a Chief Gunner Mate.
Mr. Lipscomb married the former Patricia Ann Bull on February 18, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Bennington.
Charles was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch #19 in Newport, Rhode Island, the American Legion Post# 13 of Bennington, Vermont Member at Large of the Disabled American Veterans and a Life Member of the United Steel Workers of America AFL-CIO.
As an avid outdoors man he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed taking walks or long rides with his wife and their dog, Tyler.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Lipscomb of Bennington, Vermont, three sons: William C. Lipscomb, and Jamie Lipscomb, both of Pownal, Vermont and Todd M. Lipscomb of Bennington. He leaves three sisters; Betty L. Dalton of Canton, Ohio, Barbara A. Mayhew of Alexandria, Virginia, and Charlotte Henning of Gaithersburg, Maryland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charles is predeceased by his parents, one sister Margaret E. Ostrow, and four brothers: Roy J. Lipscomb, James C. Lipscomb, Robert W. Lipscomb, and Hugh L. Lipscomb.
At the request of Mr. Lipscomb, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal, Vermont at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
