Charles Frances Dobrochowski

Charles F. Dobrochowski, 84, of Bennington, VT passed away on September 14, 2022. Charles was born in Toledo, OH on June 29, 1938. He married the former Martha Evans, who he first met in 1976, and wed on August 12th, 1982 in Las Vegas. Charlie knew from the very beginning that Martha and her 5 children came as a package. He included all 5 children on Martha's and his first date, packing a picnic and taking them all horseback riding. Martha said his heart and humor are what attracted her to him, always making her laugh while loving her kids as they were his own.
A longtime resident of Las Vegas, NV, Charlie began his career in the Casino industry at the age of 21. He retired in 2006 as a Pit Boss at Caesars Palace. Charlie had many a story of the various celebrities he had encountered during his career including Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Wayne Newton among countless others.
Charlie was a quiet man who spoke by his actions, however, when he did have something to say, you listened. He was a very loving and generous man with a huge heart. Taking his daughter, Sherri, and his stepchildren away once a year to places like Newport Beach, CA was something he took great pride in being able to do. He loved his sweets, whether it be cereal, chocolate chip cookies, or ice cream. He also loved music and was thrilled to see his stepson Jimmy making a career in music after giving him his first guitar. At family events, Charlie could often be found anywhere Jimmy and his other stepson Charles would be singing, always being the first to request songs and cheer them on. He also enjoyed watching football with his stepson Bill and stepdaughter Cheri. He cherished game days and the shared connection with Cheri and Bill very much. His grandson Robbie also echoes his grandfather's love for the game, as he pursues a career in professional football, an accomplishment that Charlie boasted about often. Charlie can be recognized in Bennington as "the guy in the bandana who was always running around the track" at MAUHS where his grandchildren Bridgette and James attended. He loved being able to see his grandchildren during his daily runs whether they would be at gym or practice.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Martha, of Bennington, his daughter, Sherri (Shawn) Meadors of Vancouver, WA; his step-children, Charles (Cindy) Evans of Idaho, Cheri (Phil) Gordon of Las Vegas, NV, William "Bill" (Jeannine) Evans of N. Bennington, VT, and James "Jimmy" (Barbara) Evans of N. Bennington, VT. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in law, Larry (Nada) Eden of Las Vegas, NV, Tom (Sally) Eden of Henderson, NV, Troy (Tiffany) Eden of Elko, NV and Tuni (Les) Theonnes of Elko, NV and his grandchildren; Robbie, Chris, Jason, Chod, Nathan, Abigail, Victoria, Mallory, Hayley, Bridgette, James, Olivia, Vincent, Carissa and Breanna and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Gilbert, brother-in-law Tim Eden, and step-son, Gilbert "Ben" Evans.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday October 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.
