CELIA LONG OBITUARY
BENNINGTON, VERMONT

Celia M. Long, age 92, a resident of Bennington died at Crescent Manor in Bennington on Friday, April 7, 2017 , surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Arlington, VT on January 29, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Fraisher and Addie (Woodard) Mears. Celia received her education in Arlington Schools. She married Richard D. Long on January 5, 1979. He died on May 7, 1989.
Over the years, Celia had been employed at the Grand Union Supermarket and at Union-Carbide in Bennington. Her last employment was at Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury.

She was an avid bowler and bowled in the Girls Green Mountain League on Wednesday evenings at Bennington Lanes, and had bowled in many Vermont State Tournaments over the years. In later years, she enjoyed bowling with the Senior Citizens on Friday afternoons.

Celia is survived by three children: John Tidd, Sr. of Bradenton, FL, Jeanne (David) Denette of Shaftsbury, VT and Dianne (Thomas) Marchinkowski of Pownal, VT. She leaves ten grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, and one sister-in-law Sue Mears-DeMarsico of North Bennington.

She is predeceased by two daughters; Barbara Leonard and Corrine Tidd, and her sisters and brothers; Alice Wilcox, Agnes Barber, John Mears and Albert Mears.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00PM at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, and left at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
A time of fellowship will follow at the Moose Lodge, 916 East Main St. Bennington from 2:0PM until 5:00PM.
