Cecelia “Sue” Mattison, 78, of Bennington, Vt, passed away on May 4, 2024. Sue was born on March 26, 1946, and throughout her life, she brought joy and laughter to those around her. She was known for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and fun-loving nature. Sue cherished her family, with a special place in her heart for her husband, daughter, and granddaughter. She was both an animal lover and artistic soul, painting whenever she found the opportunity. Being raised in a military family afforded Sue the opportunity to travel the country extensively. When describing her “adventures,” she boasted of attending 27 different schools during her childhood. In her professional life, Sue dedicated herself to the field of banking, working at several local banks. After retiring, she pursued her passion for art, spending her time painting and selling many of her creations. Sue's artistic talent knew no bounds, as she painted everything from rocks and slate to barnboard and canvas. Sue's creativity and passion shone through in her vibrant and diverse artistic creations. Sue is survived by her loving husband, Larry, her cherished granddaughter Carleigh, and her brother William Cartwright III (Nancy). She was preceded in death by her father, Lt Col William Cartwright Jr USAF, her mother Cecelia Cartwright, and her daughter Catharine “Beth” McLean. Sue will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her laughter, love for life, and artistic talents will be remembered fondly by her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
